A Pandemic Christmas...

So it's Christmas 2020! Christmas in a global pandemic is well, different. It was my first Christmas with no family due to quarantine. It was just Ramon and I and our sweet fur babies. And most notably missing was my Grandma, who passed away in September. It was a hard and very emotional Christmas for me. It wasn't that it was a bad Christmas, but it wasn't necessarily a good one either. I still found so much to be extremely thankful for, but it still hurt.

I always find joy in Christmas, this year I found joy after it was over. I know that missing my Grandma isn't going to magically stop. It's going to become like snow. It will be in my mind in the distance and then out of nowhere softly flowing memories will begin to fall until it covers everything and I'm in tears again. Then those memories will slowly melts away and returns to a place deeper into my mind and heart until the next time. This was my Christmas.

I know so many people in 2020 lost loved ones, myself included. Other’s lost loved ones, jobs, houses and more. There was so very much loss and struggle and my heart breaks for all of them. We have to do better as humans to look out for each other, to take care of each other, to actually care what happens to people around us. To care no matter what they look like, sound like, think like. No matter if we agree or disagree politically or spiritually. We are all human beings. Just be a good human, take care of yourself, your family, your friends, your loved ones, your little part of the world and without even realizing it you are changing the world for the better. And without even realizing you will automatically start helping those you can.

I will leave you with the wise words of one of my favorite author since I was 3 years old Dr. Seuss. He put it as simple as it can be put.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better: it’s not.” – Dr. Seuss (From the Lorax)
